Here is a summary of packaging methods and their English terms based on what I have come across:
1. Skin card or skin packaging: It involves covering a thin plastic bubble shell onto a cardboard backing. The advantages are that it looks aesthetically pleasing and is convenient for display. However, if the covering is not done properly, there might be air gaps between the cardboard and the bubble shell, and the shell could detach from the cardboard.
2. Slide card or slide packaging: This method is used by inserting a single-layer bubble shell onto a cardboard backing and securing it with staples. The advantages are that the packaging can be easily opened and resealed, and it is convenient for factories. However, the staples may affect the appearance, and there is a risk of theft.
3. Blister card packaging or single blister packaging: This is commonly referred to as vacuum-formed packaging. The cardboard backing is coated with oil, and then the bubble shell is fixed onto it. The two layers are pressed together using a high-frequency machine. The advantages are its attractiveness, but if not properly sealed, the shell can easily come off.
4. Double blister card packaging: This involves placing a cardboard backing between two bubble shells and sealing the edges with a heat-sealing machine. Cheaper options may use staples instead. The advantages are that it looks attractive and catches attention, but the cost is higher.
5. Tie on card packaging: This is a simple method where the product is attached to the cardboard backing using its own structure or with a tie.
6. Color label tag or hanging card: This involves attaching a card to the product, commonly used for handicrafts.
7. Polybag with header: This is a cost-effective option where the product is packaged in a plastic bag with a cardboard header.
8. Color box or display box: This is a high-quality packaging option, and there are variations like open-window color boxes.
9. White box or mail box: Although there is a difference between white box and mail box packaging, they are often mixed up.
10. Color sleeve: It is a sleeve that fits over the product, commonly used for tools like saws and knives.
11. Color envelope: This is less commonly used and resembles a colorful box similar to an envelope.
12. Sticker: A common packaging method.
13. Polybag: Used for bulk packaging.
These are just some of the packaging methods I have encountered in my work.
