Since its independence in 1960, Senegal has remained stable political situation for its solid democracy.
Since the implement of Emerging Senegal (PES) in 2014, the government has been highly supportive of innovation and entrepreneurship, such as simplifying the procedures for registering new companies and guaranteeing the interests of foreign investors. Senegal's business environment is gradually improved. It has twice been voted as one of the "top 10 economies with greatest reform in business environment".

Senegalese economy is progressively diversified through the implementation of PES. In addition to tourism, digital and telecommunication and trade in commodities also develop well. Currently, agriculture, industry and services account for 18%, 24% and 58% of Senegalese GDP, respectively.

塞内加尔与我国经贸往来友好。据中国海关数据，2022年中国与塞内加尔进出口达433亿美元，我国是塞内加尔第一大融资来源国、第二大贸易伙伴和第一大农产品出口市场。
Senegal is a large agricultural country with relatively weak industrial base. Most commodities rely on import so that prices are high. Senegal and China have friendly economic relations. According to Chinese customs, China's imports and exports with Senegal amounted to $ 43.3 billion in 2022. China is Senegal 's largest source of financing, second largest trading partner and largest export market for agricultural products.

China exports tea, household goods and building materials to Senegal, and import agricultural and fishery products and mineral sands from Senegal. Senegal’s key sectors are agriculture, industry, fishery and tourism. It mainly exports seafood, cement and phosphate, and imports petroleum refining products, mechanical and electrical equipment, medicines and necessities.

伊斯兰教是塞内加尔的主要宗教，大约 96.6% 的塞内加尔人口是穆斯林，剩余人口大多信仰基督教（约3.3%）和其他宗教（0.1%）。因此，很多重要节日都与宗教信仰息息相关。
Islam is the predominant religion in Senegal, with some 96.6 per cent of the population being Muslims, while the remainder of the population is mostly Christian (some 3.3 per cent) and of other religions (0.1 per cent). Consequently, many important festivals are linked to religious beliefs.
