Tannic acid, also known as tannin, is a light yellow or light brown amorphous powder that may oxidize and darken in color when exposed to air. It has no odor but a bitter taste and can dissolve in water, ethanol, acetone, and ethyl acetate. It is commonly used in the extraction of minerals, ink production, metal anti-rust, and as a raw material in the pharmaceutical industry. Additionally, it can be used in the production of leather tanning agents, mordants, rubber coagulants, protein agents, and alkaloid precipitants. It is also used for the production of medicine such as TMP and as the raw material for the production of gallic acid, pyrogallic acid, and sulfonamide drugs. Tannic acid should be stored in a cool, dry, and dark place with sealed packaging in brown paper bags with a net weight of 25 kg per bag.
