Our Mission
LWG supports and encourages the use of responsibly made leather as a sustainable material by inspiring, educating, and challenging those that produce and use leather. Through collaboration, convening, and standard setting, we are collectively creating a transparent leather value chain that achieves positive impacts aligned to the Sustainable Development Goals.
Our membership represents the breadth of the leather supply chain from leather processors to brands and NGOs. Through active participation, LWG sets out to achieve:
Greater collaboration across all sectors on behalf of and in the best interests of our brands and members
Provision of detailed information on key up-stream and down-stream topics to enable brands and members to make informed decisions, and carry out the necessary and additional due diligence that may be required
Effective marketing and communications to brands to help inform consumers
A globally recognized certification standard representing responsible leather sourcing to the industry and to consumers
Positive promotion of LWG certification, through accurate metrics and data-driven insights, supply chain transparency and a credible ESG certification.
